I have another question, please.

When coming to the end of my application, it lists all documents to send.
I am puzzled about "Referees statements."

Am I supposed to ask them to write a statement?

It's just the referee form that you print and have them fill out.  It asks:

Name of applicant; then referee's title (Mr/Ms/Mrs/Miss, etc), given name(s), family name, gender, DOB, address, whether referee has lived at this address for the past 3 years (if not, list previous address(es), phone number, email address, referee's profession, whether referee has a British passport (if yes, give the passport number), and how the referee knows the applicant.  They'll provide their full name, sign it, and date it.  That's it for "statement".

By signing it, they're affirming that they are eligible to be a referee and that you are who you say you are.  So, it technically is a statement.  But they don't have to write anything out except how they know you.
9/1/2013 - "fiancée" (marriage) visa issued
4/6/2013 - married (certificate issued same-day)
5/6/2013 - FLR(M)#1 in person -- approved!
8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)

As JFK said, it’s just the referee declarations that are part of the application that you print out and have both referees fill out.

Okay, I am finished with the application, have all my documents and I hit a bit of a snag.
It says it will take 6 months for processing.

I am going back to the States for a visit in September.

Will I have to send my passport away?
From what I read, I can upload all of my documents or have them scanned at my biometrics appointment.
Does that include my US passport?
Will I be able to travel while the application is being processed?

I saw no option for expediting the process.

Thank you!

Hi all!

Hopefully one final questions.

We went to our biometrics appointment and it went smoothly, as far as I can tell.

However, they said it could take anywhere from 4-6 weeks up to 6 months to get a decision.
As I stated previously, I have plans to go back to the U.S. in September for 2 weeks.

Can I travel while waiting for a decision?

The guy at biometrics wasn't sure and advised I call the Home Office, but after going through the automated menu, I got a message saying I couldn't get advice until after the waiting period had experied.

Yes you can travel while it processes as you'll still have your passport and BRP card. It's only between when you have your approval ceremony and when you get your UK passport that it becomes tricky

Thank you!

I see you got your citizenship approved! CONGRATULATIONS!  [smiley=balloon.gif]

How long did that take after biometrics?
Do you just get a letter saying you're approved?
How long until the swearing-in ceremony?
HOW EXCITING! ;D

Thanks :)

It took just about 2 months (think it was slightly under- itll be in the post I made as I went back and updated. On mobile or I'd check). Yeah you basically just get a letter in the post to tell you you've been approved and what the next steps are. Then you call and book in the ceremony.

How long it takes until your ceremony is based pretty heavily on your council and current availability (unless you're willing to pay for a private ceremony but I was not as it would still have to be on a weekday). For me, my local council only does 1 ceremony a month and I couldn't get in the current month's so I have to wait until August 28th.
