FLR(m) - non-applying child/stepchild question
« on: July 31, 2019, 04:32:46 PM »
Hello forum,

I'm in the midst of my online app for my FLR(m).

My British husband has a daughter, my stepdaughter. One question is about my stepdaughter's travel dates. 1) How many years worth of travel dates do I need to try to get from her Mum? 3 years? 5 years? All?

2) If her Mum is not forthcoming with this info, shall I just write a cover letter saying that we don't have the info because Mum won't give it to us?

3) What are some examples of evidence of her and it's relationship? Photos over the last 2.5 years time? Text message screenshots?

Other general app questions..

I know that the application process has changed a lot as of late. I've read a number of comments on here talking about mailing the application being better than applying online. 4) Is that still the case? I'm guessing not as the application itself and documents list is relatively straightforward..

And lastly, while you're filling out the online application section by section it mentions supporting documents you'll need to provide. Then at the end there's a long list of 'documents needed' to provide, as well. 5) Is the list at the end (right before you press submit) everything I need? Or shall I also include what's mentioned page by page, too, even though some (almost all) of the content is duplicated in the 'documents needed' list?

Thanks so much,
Chelsea :)

On question 3 I meant to write 'her and i's' relationship meaning evidence of the relationship I have with my stepdaughter. Typo sorry!

She is a British citizen so why is she part of this application?

The application is solely done online now. After the application a third party company called Sopra Steria take care of everything afterwards. They send your documents off and do your biometrics.

Your documents are scanned and uploaded to their site. You can do this yourself, or you can pay for them to do it for you when you go for your biometrics, for an added cost. Once your biometrics are done they officially send your application with the scanned documentation to UKVI. You literally keep every single piece of documentation. Passports, BRP...the lot.

It gives you a list at the end but do not submit trusting this list. The list for me didn't even say Marriage Certificate which is obviously required.

Hmmm...  it should be that you need your step daughter's birth certificate, copy of her passport, and a letter dated within the last 90 days to her permanent address (her GP or school will usually write a letter confirming her home address in their system for a small fee).  I'm not aware of anyone having to provide travel dates but the application does seem to be changing constantly and sadly, we cannot see it anymore.

If it won't let you move past the screens, answer as best as you can and write a cover letter stating you've put in the dates you are aware of.

Just encase it helps.  My (American) husband and I are just about to apply for our visa extension.  I have kids.  I have not been asked to provide evidence of my kids address.  I have been asked to supply birth certificates, copy of passports and also had to provide travel dates.  I also had to provide address evidence of their Father, no requirement for proof of my kids address!!
