Liquid Smoke

This might be a southern thing, I don't know. But I used to buy Liquid Smoke at home and it was cheap, kept near the barbecue and Worcestershire sauce in the store and it's good for loads of stuff! Can you get it here?

Usually in or near the herbs and stuff you will find a little brown glass jar with a yellow label. I can't remember the name right now, but it is supposed to be similar to Liquid Smoke. I think it's got seasoning or something along those lines in it's names. Next time (after Xmas probably) I am at the shop I'll make a note of it. My mom sent me some so I haven't tried it yet but everytime I pass it on the shelf I remember that it's supposed to do the job.

Alternatively, when I didn't have Liquid Smoke and hadn't known about this other product (some help I am, I know, can't remember the name), the recipe I use that calls for it I was able to substitute a smoke flavored BBQ sauce for the liquid smoke and ketchup (it's BBQ beans that I was making). It did the trick. Depending on what you are making it's something to keep in mind.

Ok, the thing I was thinking of is called Liquid Seasoning and it appears to be more soy sauce based rather than a smoke liquid. So scratch that. I haven't been able to find it here and usually have my mom post me a bottle every now and again. I used the last of my current bottle for Xmas dinner and now have to resort to a smoky BBQ sauce for my bean dish this weekend (instead of the 1 cup ketchup + liquid smoke). Sorry I haven't been much help.

What I have found has been mostly in the seasonal aisle tho- but its called Old Dakota Liquid Smoke (BBQ Marinade). Its not an indian on the front.

Let me know if you can't find as I have an extra bottle and given I will be moving in a few months, doubt I'll be able to use it plus the opened bottle :)
