Driving History
« on: November 25, 2019, 05:42:12 PM »
The spouse visa only asks about speeding tickets if there are 3 or more. Now, while I don't think that I have 3 speeding tickets (I have 2), I have had a number of random minor vehicle citations. However, my official driving record only shows 2 things. Is it best to disclose incidents, even if they aren't available on my record? I don't want to get slapped with Deception down the road. I don't like to imagine filling up my cover letter or my application with a number of explanations for minor vehicle things, some of which are so silly that at minimum they require a paragraph of explaining. And of course only 2 things made it on my driving record. Should I even bother explaining the things on my driving record in the cover letter, or only provide the explanations required by the application?

Wish that the application gave more guidance on this.

Thank you.
FLR(M) was approved
Applied without solicitor, digitised and uploaded docs myself
Paid for Super Priority and got same-day result
Best advice: Start your actual application online a year out, best way to really find out what you need

It's safest just to declare everything and a good idea to explain anything that you feel should be explained.

Yes. I had a hard time with this question because I had a 4 or 5 tickets total, but most of them were from 15 to 20 years ago and I couldn't get any record of them (Michigan purges records after 10 years). I declared everything I could remember in my cover letter and openly admitted that I couldn't recall the exact dates and that I may have even forgotten one or two. Apparently, that was fine because I got my visa approval today. Just be super honest and declare everything you can recall.

Congratulations!!

I am going to declare everything that I can recall that resulted in a ticket, even though half of it isn't on my state driving record.
