Maximum time outside the UK
« on: December 17, 2019, 11:24:00 AM »
Hi all! I'll be applying for FLR(M) sometime between April and July 2020, and I've lived and worked here continuously (maybe a total of 20 days out of the country) since arriving in October 2017.

I've just had a massive potential career opportunity come up that would require a stretch of time working outside the UK. I'm an actress and a show I did in the West End last year is moving to Broadway. It's an open-ended contract beginning in 2020, but obviously my home is now in the UK and I don't want to destroy our chances for being granted further and indefinite leave to remain. If I were to do it, even for a relatively short time, it would be an enormous boost to my performing career here in the UK and definitely multiply my opportunities going forward. We own a home here, and we're not considering an actual move back to the States at this point, but is it permissible to spend extended periods away specifically for work? Is there any way to make this happen?

Thanks so much for your expertise and consideration! This forum has been invaluable to us in our journey so far :)
