FLR(m) questions - almost ready to submit!
« on: December 09, 2019, 10:29:33 PM »
Hello, forum!

I'm submitting my first FLR(m) in the next week or so.  I am the USC married to a UKC and arrived here on a spousal visa April 2017.  My BRP expires end of this month, so we're cutting things a bit too close for my comfort!  We have two British born children.

A few questions on the application:

What is the start date of your current visa or leave to remain?
--> Do I list the date I entered the UK?

Is this the first time you have applied for a partner route, or an extension, with your current partner (including as a fiancé(e) or proposed civil partner)?
--> I chose No, since I applied initially for a spousal visa.  Which is the correct answer?

What type of ceremony was your wedding or civil partnership?
--> I put "Civil ceremony". What am I supposed to put here?

When I get to the "financial" section, it asks me to enter employment information for myself.  It does not give me the option to enter info only for my partner (which we planned to do).  I've entered my information, and then at the end of the section it requires that I tick boxes affirmatively stating I will provide financial evidence for myself (payslips, employment letter, etc).  Only after I've completed this and ticked the boxes does it let me add financial info for someone new if I want to.

Should I just enter my partner's information and then only provide financial evidence supporting his employment?   Or am I required to provide supporting documentation for my own employment?  I am above the 18.6k requirement and have been employed continuously for > 6 months. The issue is that my employment and banks are all in the US, and so it is difficult to get original documentation, especially given we are cutting it close to the final date I can apply.

All advice gratefully received and much appreciated.  Thank you!

(Chi)Kristin

It says start date of your visa, not what date you arrived, so I would put the start date on your BRP.

You just answered it youself: No, because you applied initially for a spousal visa.

So this is the second time you have applied for a partner visa.

You've already answered this yourself. It was a civil ceremony.

If you are using your partner's income to meet the requirement, then you DO NOT fill out any of your employment details.

You say that you are NOT EMPLOYED and then ONLY fill out your partner's employment information. For the sake of the FLR(M) application, you do not have any income.

Thank you, Ksand!

Could someone also kindly confirm that our correspondence documents are acceptable?  All are originals.

9 Oct 2019 - Joint (TSB)
3 June 2019 - Joint (Flow Energy)
9 Feb 2019 - Joint (Flow Energy)
8 Sep 2018 - Joint (Flow Energy)
12 April 2018 - Joint (Council Tax)
6 Dec 2017 - Joint (Council Tax)

This was the only way I could space things to allow us to use all jointly addressed documents.  We have additional correspondence, but all addressed individually.

Should I include any additional documents prior to December 2017?  It seems like such a long gap since I arrived April 2017.

Many thanks.

Your Sept 2018 and Feb 2019 documents are spaced too far apart - 5 months each, when they should be 4 months.

I would use your individual documents instead, assuming you have some from the right months.

You really need documents from the following months:

Dec 2017 - Joint Council tax
April 2018 - Joint Council tax
Aug 2018 - ?
Dec 2018 - ?
April 2019 - ?
Aug 2019 - ?
(Dec 2019 - optional extra) - ?

No, because they don't require anything from before Dec 2017.

You only have to cover a maximum of 2 years from the date of your FLR(M) application (Dec 2017 - Dec 2019)

Thank you KSand.  We've adjusted our dates so that we have correspondence from each of the periods you suggest.  All are original, joint, and we have three sources (TSB, Flow Energy, and Council Tax).

I'll post a full list of our documentation shortly, but I am confused about when we need to upload these documents.  We've submitted the application now, I've been redirected and have paid the IHS fee, and I've booked an appointment for my Biometrics at Croydon for 9th January.  My confirmation letter says to bring my original documentation with me to the appointment (full text below), but I have *not* paid extra to have my documentation scanned for me.  I suppose I was expecting to upload my documentation into the application itself rather than bring hard copies with me? [ I'm now panicking that I've submitted and paid for the wrong application type]

Hi again. Below is a list of our documents. Are we missing anything?

I would also be grateful if someone could explain when/where/how to upload our documents. There was no obvious place to do so in the application, and I was never directed to book my biometrics through the sopra steria website. My confirmation emails say to bring my documents to my appointment, but it seems others have been able to upload in advance and I don't see how to do that.

Many thanks!!
