Quick naturalisation query
« on: February 18, 2020, 07:02:22 AM »
Hi folks,

A way off yet as we're not even at ILR until summer, but I would like to see if anyone can help with a little query around this. It seems that the AN form §1.45 asks about occupation.

As my other half hasn't worked in the UK in the HMRC's employment sense - she's been "homemaking", would this be the occupation?

Would then the UK employment history be left blank if she's never worked (again, in the HMRC sense -- homemaking is hard work!)?

Finally, as there is then no corresponding NI contribution, would the documents listed in §10:

Quote
SECTION 10 Evidence of National Insurance contributions covering the relevant period:
• payslips
• P60’s
• letter or letters from your employer or employers confirming you have worked in their
employment including start and finish dates

be just omitted as they don't exist?

Thanks!

She could, or she could use non-employed; not working and not looking for work.

Yes, if she has not been working, she won't have those documents, that is fine. A work history is not a requirement of the application. You can explain in a quick sentence if you like.

Thanks larrabee - that's great!

I had thought it wasn't a requirement, but then I ended up second-guessing myself when I looked at the form as I usually do with this stuff :)

So, in §1.45 something like "Homemaker - non-employed; not working and not looking for work" should be clear!

Exactly! The one size fits all nature of these forms can be really challenging.

That would certainly cover all the bases!  :)
