Traveling close to BRP expiration date
« on: January 19, 2020, 10:41:19 AM »
Hi All,

I had a quick question. So I m currently on Spouse visa and my BRP expires on 9th of April 2020.

We will apply for FLR sometime in March 2020. However, I am planning to go On a holiday from 24th January 202 to 3rd February 2020. Will there be any issues to enter back into the UK considering that my BRP will soon expire in April 2020?

Is there any kind of restrictions that you have to be in the UK 6 months or so before applying for FLR or that you can’t leave the country if your BRP has expiry time less than 6 months?

I know I m probably being paranoid. But just genuinely concern because certain countries have this rule with the passport expiration date. Hence I am a little concerned.

Looking forward to hear back from you all!

Thanks,
Nazzy

No, you should be fine to travel then. If anyone mentions that your BRP is expiring soon, just say that you are aware of that and will be applying for FLR(M) before it expires.

The only time it’s not recommended to travel close to the expiry date is when it’s expiring just a few days after you get back... because the concern there is that you won’t have time to apply for FLR(M) before it expires.
