Spouse Visa docs.
« on: January 29, 2020, 11:19:30 PM »
My fiancee is applying for spouse visa in March. I am from UK, she is from USA.

1. Would mortgage statement and letter from my parents satisfy the accommodation requirement?

2. How does the uploading documents process work? Do I save everything in .jpg, .pdf format? Do I email them to my wife to print off in USA? Do I print everything off from my end? When we apply, do we need to upload the documents there and then? How, for example, would she upload my pay slips, employer letter, mortgage statement etc. from the USA if I have physical copies of these? Sorry if it's a stupid question I'm just confused.

Thanks.

1- You will need a recent mortgage statement and a letter of permission from your parents, but also the land registry document.

You can get the land registry document here. https://www.gov.uk/search-property-information-land-registry

2- You should actually courier the originals to her. While everything that you submit is uploaded (or copies sent to NY), she should be in possession of all the originals as there is technically a chance that they could ask to see them. It is unlikely but the rules read that way.

You should scan them all first before you send them just to be on the safe side and use a reliable carrier such as UPS or Fedex, don't use the post office.

Don't complete the online application until she has all the documents in hand.

Would an online copy of the 'Title register' work? I'm guessing I could print it off, but not sure.

Also, regarding the documents, couldn't I just scan them all and email them all to my fiancee in USA so she could print them off? I also heard (not sure if it's true) that we can upload our documents online then go to a VFS centre for them to scan them to her application.

Yes. That’s what most people provide. You can download an official copy of your Title Register from the Land Registry website for £3:

Okay, here are your options:
- send all the original documents to your fiancé, so she can scan and upload them at home. Then she attends biometrics at a USCIS Application Support Center then mails her passport, stamped biometrics sheet, Priority processing receipt (if using) and return shipping label and packaging to New York for processing within 5 days of biometrics... this is usually the cheapest and easiest option

- send all the original documents to your fiancé. She then attends biometrics at a USCIS center and mails everything to New York for them to scan it all. However, it costs about £100 extra for New York to scan them.

- send all the original documents to your fiancé, she then books a Settlement Premium Appointment at a VFS Centre in a major US city (there are only 10 centres in the US) for an extra $2000. They will scan the documents there and she can keep her passport. This service is a complete waste of money and I wouldn’t recommend anyone use it.

- you pay about £75 to take your documents to an approved U.K. location for them to scan them for you, while your fiancé does everything else in the US (biometrics, scans her documents, mails her passport etc. to New York)

See here for more info (she will be applying for a settlement visa):
