So it seems like the US is going to add the UK and Ireland to the travel ban list on Monday (16th March) due to COVID-19 outbreaks.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-51891662My wife (American citizen) and I (British citizen) are expecting our first FLR(M) application result to come back within the next couple of weeks (actually coincidentally we applied exactly 8 weeks before her tier 4 student visa runs out on 25th March).
If the application is (for whatever reason)
unsuccessful, how much of a problem/asset will the travel ban be?
i.e.
- would our original application be affected at all by the travel ban, either positively or negatively?
- when appealing, could we use it as extenuating circumstances (seeing as my wife would be able to return to the US, but I wouldn't be allowed to go with her for however long the travel ban lasts)?
- will there be an automatic extension to currently valid visas in the UK, similar to what other countries have done, for the purposes of limiting people moving around?
I'd just like to know whether we need to prepare ourselves (even if only mental preparation is possible) for our case being thrown into any jeopardy because of international reactions to the pandemic?
I imagine loads of people here now have similar questions due to this new development.
