OK, now what? ILR
« on: March 18, 2020, 11:31:42 AM »
I applied/paid for priority ILR on 15 March. No "code" sent to me so I could continue the process with Sopra-Steria. I have sent  several messages to Sopra, you get an automatic response stating somebody may contact you in 5-10 days. I broke down today and said what the hell and called the visa/immigration site.....phone calls get cut off after the usual beginning computer choices. Called Sopra with the same response of getting phone calls cut off. I've been on the Sopra Facebook page stating my issue. I can't think of anything else to try. The only thing I can hope for at this point is that Sopra actually will get in touch with me in the next week or two. Anybody have somebody I can contact?

Might be a silly question, but did you check your Spam/Junk Mail box for the email with the code? Sometimes emails get filtered into Spam without you realising.

Nope...not a silly question....I always reserve the right to do something stupid (and have proved it many times). Yes....checked them.....a lot.

Yes....that first link is the one I used for Sopra. I got a auto-response at least once that said that I may hear from them in 5-10 days. This is only the 3rd working day.....so I can hope that they will respond at some point. I see no other option at this time. No idea what to do if I never hear back from them.

Well...after sending emails etc to the visa gov uk site (worthless, they did respond but said everything is someone else's problem.....Trump-like) and I did get a response from the Sopra site saying I would get a new code number in the next 2 days. I sure hope it doesn't have the same 30 minute requirement attached to it. But even if I'm on the golf course.....my wife is prepped in case I call. She will leap to the computer like Wonder Woman and type this magical number into the site like greased lightning. No idea if things will work....can only hope.

Zing!!! The Sopra site got back to me later yesterday and said they would send a new code within 2 days.....and they followed up and did so this morning. I'm in. Now I'd like a recommendation on what level to go with. We should have all the documents already but for the bank statements which we got through the Lloyds in town last time without any problem.

Core- I'd have to travel to Birmingham or Manchester.....don't want to.
Enhanced- Leeds seems to have one which is as close/easy as any choice. They will scan my documents. I don't care if they check documents over....although the site says they want you to upload any documents you want checked 48 hrs ahead of time.
Premium Lounge- sounds like a waste
VIP visit- I would assume this would be a good bit more money, but I don't know how much more. They would come to your house. Any  idea how much?

Document check
-Passport for both myself (American) and wife.
-Declaration of partner
-Foreign State Pension document. I don't really need this since I am going off our savings in the bank, but I put it down on the application. It's just a booklet they gave me when retiring stating what my monthly benefits would be. The money coming in is also pretty obvious on the bank statements.
-6 letters/documents. No problem, plenty of council tax/utilities/bank statements.
-Bank statements. No problem. Just need to arrange an appointment at Lloyds.
-Council tax. Yes. We own the home.
-Current BRP. Yes, good until July.
-My last US passport.
-Monthly housing costs. Utilities-couple of water bills for the time period, couple of council tax forms, bank statements show NPower/Yorkshire water bills. We used council tax, water statements and bank statements on FLR.

Actually, you should have had everything in hand before applying. Get the bank statements now in case the banks shut and make sure they go back a full 6 months minimum before the date of the online application. 7 is safer.

Don't provide the pension document if you are relying on savings, it will confuse the application.

You will need the deeds to your house or land registry  document to prove ownership.
You will need your marriage certificate and any divorce or death certificates.

The mail needs to be 6 joint pieces or 12 individual or a combination of the two. They need to be evenly spaced over the 2.5 years preceding the application.

You have passed your life in the UK test?

I think those home visit appointments used to be in the region of £10,000. I don't know what they are now.

Land Registry- yes
Marriage/divorce papers- yes
6 joint papers over 2.5 yrs- council tax/water/bank statements- yes
Life in UK test- yes

The only thing I think we actually have to do is get the bank statements signed off on.

THANKS
£10K!! ouch. I'll plan on trying Leeds for the Enhanced. If I understand things correctly (always iffy)....I make the Enhanced appointment and then just show up with all my paperwork.....they will make any copies they need, and photos etc? Nothing to send/upload to them ahead of time?
