ILR questions - online form - some missing?
« on: June 14, 2020, 03:05:34 PM »
Hi folks,

A couple of interesting things came up as we're completing the form online for our ILR.

The first is that, when we check the box to say yes to "does your partner have any children living in the UK from a previous relationship", it then says:

"Provide details of where the children live, who they live with and their relationship with that person. Include the reason they do not live with your partner."

They do live with us, so I have stated this in the answer explicitly. Is this OK? There was no other option.

Also, it only asked about the applicant's previous relationships, not the sponsors. This doesn't seem right either, as last time we had to explain this in some detail. We will include the divorce decree absolute with the application anyway, and probably explain it in a covering letter.

Does this sound OK? Thanks!

Further question, we did originally tick this box:

"Optionally, I will also provide the following documents as additional evidence: (Required)
[ ] A P60 for the relevant period(s) of employment relied upon"

but then went back and unticked it; we will still include the P60 but it only goes up to the end of the tax year this year, so is missing at least two months of the period being relied upon. Does this sound sensible?

Well, I made reference to the previous FLR(M) applications - with reference numbers - in the covering letter to give them a place to go about that information. I'm hoping that with the divorce document should cover that base. It feels much "easier" than the old paper FLR(M)s!

Any other comments gratefully received :)

Even more questions: on the documents list, it says that we should supply our current BRP.

Does this mean just a scan of it, as there's nowhere to post the documents to now?

Then, also, there's the question of what to do with the old one once the application is submitted. Do we hang on to it forever, or does it get taken off you at biometrics? Hoping that someone who has done this knows :)

I think that’s okay.

The online form is badly designed and the questions seem to be tailored to your previous answers.

So just answer best you can.

The divorce decree is mandatory but it has nothing to do with your children... it’s to prove your current marriage is valid and legal.

You do not need a covering letter.

You just provide the most recent P60 issued - which will be April 2020 (issued in May).

It does not matter if it covers the whole period you are relying on or not.

It’s not a mandatory document and they may not even look at it.

You shouldn’t need to write a cover letter, and you shouldn’t need to list previous application reference numbers either.

Yes, everything is scanned now, including your passport and BRP.

You also need to take your passport and BRP to your biometrics appointment for ID purposes.

You should receive instructions regarding what do to with it (if anything) once your visa has been issued and you have the new BRP.

ksand24, thanks again - you're an absolute star!

I'm going to impose on HR again now to see if I can get them to add in how long I have received my current salary for -- argh! Slightly different wording, and I'm sure it would be fine without but ... just to try to dot every i, j, and you know, dot the t just for good measure :)
