FLR(M) - First Extension - Documents Prep Checklist Help
« on: June 28, 2020, 09:05:50 AM »
Hi all,

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. I am approaching the first extension of my FLR(M) and was hoping I could get some expert eyes in checking through my preparation list (especially the correspondence). Here's my case:

Background
First FLR(M) BRP Granted: 25/1/2018
BRP Expiration: 25/7/2020
No children, same address since beginning

Application Documents
Identity
  • Applicant Passport - do i need to scan all pages? I've also had a new passport since my last BRP. Do I need to scan that passport also?
  • Sponsor Passport - do i need to scan all pages?
  • Applicant BRP, expiring 25/7/2020

Accommodation
  • House deed - online statement
  • Council tax bill - 2020-2021
  • Mortgage statements: 2019 annual statement + monthly mortgage statements from Jan 20 - June 20

Proof of English
  • Letter from University verifying that all courses were taught in English
  • Copy of transcript
  • NARIC letter from first application verifying degree validity

Finance - relying on spouse's job alone
  • Letter from company confirming position, length of service, salary, how long salary's been held for, type of employment
  • Payslips Jan 20 - June 20 - online statements
  • Letter from manager confirming validity of payslips
  • Bank statements showing pay deposits - Jan 20 - June 20

Marriage
  • Marriage Certificate

Correspondence - proof of address
  • June 2018: Property Management Letter to Sponsor + TV license letter to Applicant
  • Oct 2018: Barclays Bank Statement to Sponsor + Barclays Bank Statement to Applicant
  • March 2019: Council Tax Bill in Joint Name
  • August 2019: Water bill in joint name
  • Feb 2020: Water bill in Joint name
  • June 2020: Halifax Bank Statement to Sponsor + HMRC letter to Applicant

Any input anyone could provide would be much appreciated :)

1- Scan all pages of both of applicants passports and sponsors passport.

2- You just need the most recent mortgage statement.

3-Do the payslips show a date range or just an end date? If the latter, you will need an additional payslip to make sure the full 6 month time period is covered.
Likewise, the bank statements need to cover the exact same 6 month time period as the payslips, as well as showing the deposits. Are they originals, sent though the post?

4-For the correspondence, you have three sources and cover the required time period but they are not particularly evenly spread out. It's actually easiest to include 7 joint equivalent items at 4 month spacing. If you can, I would do that.

Hi there.

For the passports:
- yes, you should scan and upload every page, even blank pages.
- yes, you need to include all passports you have used since moving to the UK

For the accommodation:
- you only need to include 1 mortgage statement... so I would just include the most recent one you have.

For the financial requirements:
- January to June payslips and bank statements likely won't meet the requirements
- most people have to include 7 months of payslips and bank statements to make sure every single day of the 6 months is covered
- for example, if the June payslip is dated 30th June, then your 6 months starts on 31st December, which means you must include the December payslip and bank statement as well, in order to explicitly cover the day of 31st December.

Quote
Correspondence - proof of address
  • June 2018: Property Management Letter to Sponsor + TV license letter to Applicant
  • Oct 2018: Barclays Bank Statement to Sponsor + Barclays Bank Statement to Applicant
  • March 2019: Council Tax Bill in Joint Name
  • August 2019: Water bill in joint name
  • Feb 2020: Water bill in Joint name
  • June 2020: Halifax Bank Statement to Sponsor + HMRC letter to Applicant

Your correspondence documents are not evenly spaced and therefore do not currently meet the requirements.

They must be spaced every 4 months, but your spacing is:

  • June 2018: Property Management Letter to Sponsor + TV license letter to Applicant
4 months
  • Oct 2018: Barclays Bank Statement to Sponsor + Barclays Bank Statement to Applicant
5 months
  • March 2019: Council Tax Bill in Joint Name
5 months
  • August 2019: Water bill in joint name
6 months
  • Feb 2020: Water bill in Joint name
4 months
  • June 2020: Halifax Bank Statement to Sponsor + HMRC letter to Applicant

Instead, you need documents from the following months:
June 2018
Oct 2018
Feb 2019
June 2019
Oct 2019
Feb 2020
Optional extra: June 2020

Thank you thank you THANK YOU! I knew I was missing something :) Much appreciated.

Re: Payslips: the payslips do indeed only show the end date (e.g. 30/6/2020). I'll add in Dec 2019 payslips and bank statement reflecting deposit. It's an online only statement that my spouse gets through the company portal - so he's asked his manager to write a letter confirming that the payslips are valid.

Re: Correspondence. I've updated the list to include the following instead:
  • June 2018: Property Management Letter to Sponsor + TV license letter to Applicant
  • October 2018: Barclays Bank Statement to Sponsor + Barclays Bank Statement to Applicant
  • March 2019: Council Tax bill in joint name
  • June 2019: Property Management Letter to sponsor + TV license to Applicant
  • October 2019: Halifax Bank statement to sponsor + Barclays bank statement to Applicant
  • Feb 2020: Water bill in joint name
  • June 2020: Halifax Bank Statement to Sponsor + HMRC letter to Applicant

Do let me know if that works

I didn't want to include too many bank statements due to lack of variety - alas we only get our joint letters and letters from other sources in months that don't perfectly fit into the timeline.

Looks better, though if you can, I would get rid of the March 2019 council tax statement and replace it with something from Feb 2019... if you have bank statements for that month, use them instead.

Don’t worry about using too many bank statements... it’s more important to get the dates right.

You only need 3 different sources in total, so as long as you have at least 2 other document types, you can use as many bank statements as you like/need to.

At the moment you have 6 different sources so you have more than enough... so you could even replace 3 of the sources with bank statements and you would still be fine :).
