USCIS Biometric Appointments
« on: June 09, 2020, 07:59:23 PM »
Does anyone know about the status of the USCIS re-openings and biometric appointment scheduling? I read on their site they reopened on June 4th but just realized today they say the Application Support Centers have not.

My husband and I are hopefully submitting our visa within the next week. I'm just trying to get a better idea of what to expect with the biometric appointment scheduling. Looking for any and all info people may have. Thank you :)

We don’t know any more than you do, I’m afraid.

All we have to go on is what it says on the USCIS website:

They are definitely still closed now, at least in Oregon and surrounding states.  I've submitted my application otherwise and I'm eagerly checking every day to see if they will let me schedule an appointment.

It seems like anyone's guess at this point though. I got excited when I read this post because I thought perhaps someone else had news :o

There is also this page here that should show when specific offices start reopening:

As of right now under Application Support Center it says all offices are closed.

Ahh, sorry for the false hope, Someguysomewhere.

I had read last week they did in fact reopen on June 4. Didn't realize till yesterday though that it said the Application Support Centers were not. Just wanted to verify whether I was correct in my understanding that that meant no biometric appointments also. Sad to hear this is the case :(

Last I read, the USCIS website said that some ASCs would be opening from June 4th and that you could click to check to see which ones... but when I did that, it still said they were all closed.

Now it looks like they have decided not to open any of them yet after all.

So, it's still a case of 'wait and see' :(

I got in contact with my local USCIS office and VFS to ask if they had any update of when they planned on reopening. Neither one gave any useful information.

This was the response I got from VFS:

"Thank you for writing to us.

We understand that you are waiting for the visa services to resume in USA.

As of now, we have not received any update on reopening of centers. As soon as any update is received, the same will be published on the website.

Hence, we request you to kindly check our official website periodically and write back to us once the Visa Centre has re-opened, and we would be happy to assist you further with regards to your concern.

For more detailed information, please check the country-specific page on www.vfsglobal.com [nofollow] (to access this, please enter the country you’re applying from and the country you’re going to, in the fields provided). All visa-related information pertaining to specific countries will be published here."

And USCIS just gave an automated response of, "USCIS will resume in-person processing of biometrics at Application Support Centers at a later date" - with no date given.

I'm in the same boat.

Some good news, at last.

USCIS updated their site yesterday. Some Application Support Centers are reopening later in July.

Beadh, looks like you're in luck! They're reopening in Oregon, too.

Unfortunately I am still stuck waiting. I could easily drive to Boston, although with travel restrictions across state lines and quarantine orders in place I am not sure it would be as easy as I thought. Still, I am glad to finally see movements being made to reopen ASCs.
