Hi all!  Hope everyone is doing well!

I am getting ready to apply for my ILR, but I am having trouble finding an updated checklist regarding the documents that will need to be scanned and uploaded as part of the application.  Would anyone have a link to this or be able to provide the list of documents?  Apologies if this has already been posted recently!

Thank you :)

What you need for ILR is very similar to FLR. So take your own checklist and assuming the way you are meeting each of the requirements hasn't changed, all you need to do is add the life in the UK test pass and spread your items of correspondence out over 2.5 years instead of 2 years. And they are also asking for a council tax bill which they may not have done when you last applied.

There is the bonus of no IHS to pay.

If you want to pop your list here, we can check it over for you.

Thank you!  Just going through all the post I have saved to get the correct spacing.  If my partner's salary has remained constant for the past 3 years and meets the financial requirement, can I just use his documents?  I just remember my last FLR application got complicated because I'm "self-employed" and I've taken a pay decrease as a result of the pandemic... so just looking to make things a bit easier.

If my partner and I now have a child together and the child was born and registered here in the UK... do I need to include them on my application as a dependent?  We sent off for his British passport the day before lockdown and haven't heard anything since... and he hasn't been registered with the U.S.

Yes. In fact, that’s what you should do. They only need to see one salary, as long as that salary meets the requirements on its own.

Self-employment is the most difficult category to meet because it requires tons of very specific documents and it’s easy to miss something. So you only want to use your income as an absolute last resort.

As he is British, you will be required to fill out his details and include the following documents for him:
- his UK passport
- his birth certificate
- a letter dated in the last 90 days confirming his address (I.e. from his GP)

If either of you have any other children under 18 from previous relationships, you will be required to do the same for them as well.

Hi Heather!

I just submitted my ILR application about a month ago so still have those Visa jitters and completely feel your pain!

It's really quite nice because as you fill in your online application, it sort of "creates" a checklist for you of the supporting documents you will need. It generates after you fill in the application, go through the finance section, then it gives you the list (don't worry, it's before you submit anything or pay, so you can still amend answers in the application).

For example if in your application you do indeed say you want to use your husband's income rather than your own, once you fill in his work details (let's say his name is Joe and he is an accountant and Acne), on your checklist it will say -Reference letter for Joe from Acne confirming his title of accountant, pay, etc. -6 payslips for Joe from his accountant job at Acne -Signed contract for Joe from his accountant job at Acne.

Mind you it will sound much more official than how I worded it! So it is really handy. I imagine it'll include the details required for your children as well (I don't have any so can't say). It is a thorough list, though of course be mindful if there is anything additional you might want to include. For example, it didn't tell me I needed to include my marriage cert but of course I uploaded it as a supporting doc anyway. And there is no limit to the number of docs you can upload on the UKVCAS site (just file size limit).

Hope this puts you at ease a bit!

We always advise not to trust the application checklist for the very reason you have pointed out. They are not by any means foolproof and often miss vital documents. Luckily you knew to include your  marriage certificate but some may not.

Thank you all!  I figured it was similar to FLR, but it is always good to get confirmation.  Here is what I have so far for my checklist... I am hopeless at the timeline for providing post, so if it is incorrect, if anyone could help, I would appreciate it.  I have post from nearly every month for the past 2.5 years, so I'm sure I have something to cover if it is incorrect:

Application Documents
Current and previous passports
BRP
Life in the UK test – I have my test scheduled for 25 July
Husband’s passport
Applicant and sponsor signed declarations

Financial Documents
Payslips covering 6 months  (January - August - they are paid in advance)
Bank statements to correspond with 6 months of payslips
Letter from employer
P60

Accommodation Documents
Land registry document
Latest mortgage statement
Latest Council tax bill

Since we recently moved into our house, should I have documentation of the lease on our last accommodations?

Relationship Requirements
Certificate of Marriage
Joint documents:
Mar 2020 - bank statement
Nov 2019 - NHS letter (me) and electric bill (partner)
May 2019 - NHS letter (me) and water bill (partner)
Nov 2018 - bank statement
May 2018 - bank statement
Dec 2017 - council tax (missed a payment)

Child
Birth certificate
Letter from GP (although we just registered in our new area so don't know how long it will take)
