Spouse Visa - Parents Accommodation
« on: October 26, 2020, 07:27:49 PM »
Hello,
I have a quick query regarding accommodation for our spouse visa. My parents have written a letter expressing that they are happy for myself, wife and son to live with them. They live in the midlands, and I am currently working in London. My plan is to continue working in London, Monday to Friday, renting out a friends spare room and go back to my parents at the weekends. This allows us to find a place to live together, once my wife is in the country.
Is this information I need to include in my sponsor letter or am I overthinking things?
Thank you

I think you may need to state that you are renting as well and may need a letter from the people you are renting the room from, just to make sure you are covered. But a letter from the homeowner is good enough, I'm sure you need a professional letter done that states the number of rooms in the house, size etc to show that there is enough space for you, the wife and son to be accommodated.

I would suggest you just give your parents address. There may be an inspection of the premises.  My brother (Canadian wife) gave our parents address and it was indeed inspected (it is a big old barn in Cambridge), while he gave the tenant in his own flat notice - usually the inspectors are there to check it's not a tiny over-populated house with too many people.  Until you find your own place I suggest getting yours and your wife's correspondence sent to your parents and making it your official place of residence - start with phone bills in both names and some bank accounts!. Dont worry about telling them about your temporary London weekday digs or going through the hassle/cost of also getting that checked.
Remember you need to demonstrate you are living together too for he next visa (FLR(M), so keeping it simple is best. The application process is a checklist
"Do they have somewhere adequate to live together?" Check. If you're temporarily going elsewhere for work and you tell them every detail it may confuse the issue or make the bod processing your application unsure.

Hope that helps.  Ksand, KFD or Larrabee should be able to confirm....
