I am going to America after Christmas and I am paying for a 6 week application. Since I will be quarantining before my bio-metrics appointment and sending my passport after that, how long does it take on average to receive one's passport back after sending it to New York? (if there is such thing as an average time for this)
It takes as long as it takes for the visa to be processed by Sheffield, then for New York to issue the visa into your passport, and for them to mail it back to you.
You said you are paying for priority processing, so hopefully your visa will be processed within 30 working days... and I'd allow for a few days after the decision has been made to get your passport back.
For your documents, I'm just going to arrange them into the different requirement sections:
Applicant Documents (these are mailed to New York)
• The first page of the applicant’s Visa Application Form (not sure if this is strictly needed)
• Stamped biometrics confirmation sheet (will be stamped at your appointment)
• Your US passport
• Priority processing receipt
• Return shipping label
• Return packaging
The following are all uploaded:
Applicant Documents• Probably worth scanning your US passport as well as sending it
• Scans of all other previous passports you have held
Sponsor's Documents• UK passport
• Sponsor letter of support (should be typed, then printed and signed, before being scanned)
Financial (Adequate maintenance)
• DLA paperwork
• At least 1 bank statement showing DLA payment deposit
• Evidence of weekly rent and council tax payments
• 6 full months of payslips, the most recent dated no more than 28 days before your online application date
(you will likely need 7 months worth to cover the entire 6-month period)...
if any of the payslips are electronic, they must be verified in a letter from the employer• 6 full months of bank statements, the most recent dated no more than 28 days before your online application date
(you will likely need 7 months worth to cover the entire 6-month period)...
if any bank statements are printed from online banking they must be stamped/signed by the bank on EVERY page• A Letter from each employer, dated no more than 28 days before your online application date, confirming ALL of the following:
i) current employment and salary
ii) length of employment
iii) gross pay
iv) net pay (after income tax/NI contributions)
v) type of employment
vi) verification of any online payslips included with the application
Accommodation• tenancy agreement
• letter from landlord
Proof of relationship • 2 photos of you together
• Divorce Decree
• scanned boarding passes from July
• scanned letters/cards sent to each other... if you have any
• screenshots of email inbox showing emails sent to each other... no email content should be included, just dates, names and subject lines... no more than 2-3 pages total. So just filter your inboxes and take a few screenshots covering the 10 months
