FLR (M) - Application after marriage
« on: December 12, 2020, 07:22:43 AM »
Hi All,

So myself (British) and Wife (American) got married In Gibraltar this week!

We’re now looking to complete her FLR (M) to stay in the UK.

Are there any ‘flags’ raised if we were to apply so quickly afterwards or is this considered normal?

Also, Gibraltar take up to 15 days to issue the official certificates. We have a letter from the Registry office stating we are officially married on x date , signed etc. Would this suffice in terms of documents for applications or are we better off waiting for the certificate?

Thanks!

Looking at your previous posts, she's in the UK on a tier 4 visa so you are correct that she should be applying for FLR(M).

The length of time between getting married and applying for the visa is not an issue providing you can provide enough evidence that your relationship is genuine, as with any partner application.

You will need to wait until you have your official certificate of marriage.

I came over on a fiancee visa, we got married on a Tuesday, applied for FLR(M) on the Wednesday.  Not an eye was bat.  If you meet the requirements and submit the evidence, you get your visa.

You do need the certificate. We asked before we planned everything and knew we could get our certificate same-day.  We also ordered several additional copies, just in case UKVI kept ours.  The copies were posted to us later, but we had our original hand-written one for the application.
