Biometric appointment on 21 Dec (in Tier 4 London lockdown)
« on: December 19, 2020, 08:32:34 PM »
I have my biometric appointment on Monday (21 Dec) in London, and while I know the guidance on the site says "COVID-19 Restrictions: UKVCAS has essential service status: This means UKVCAS Service Points will remain open in all tier areas during the next stage of COVID-19 restrictions" that was issued on 15 December BEFORE the latest lockdown announcement. While I still plan on attending (unless I receive an email telling me my appointment is cancelled), I am wondering if any of you have heard otherwise....

I don't know anything more than what they post on the UKVCAS website, so we'll just have to see if they post a update regarding the new Tier 4 restrictions in the next couple of days.

I have a sneaking feeling the biometrics offices will be closed due to tier 4, since all non essential retail is also closed and you aren't supposed to travel into/out of Tier 4 areas. Definitely keep an eye on the UKVCAS site for updates.

No change for now on the page, so I'll just plan to go. It's about a 30 minute drive, which is not a big deal. This is one of several reasons I finally decided to buy a car after living in London for 5+ years. I would NOT do it if I had to use TfL.

Good luck today - let us know how it goes!

It was NOT as straightforward as I expected, although the appointment itself was fine. I'll share my experience over on the other thread, since I know people may be more inclined to review that when preparing their own submissions.

Long story short, the appointment was NOT cancelled and everything in that regard went well.
