Hello! I have just seen that H&R Block has a section for Expat filing on their website. Has anyone used this for theirs? I am only trying to file my 2020 returns so I can get a stimulus. I make a low wage and have no property owned so its pretty straightforward. If anyone has feedback on their site or any similar one let me know how your experience was and if you qualified for the stimulus. x

I've used it every year as part of free file, but they're no longer participating in that program. It's going to cost $29.99 to upgrade and do my foreign income so I'm going to check out some of the free file options first to see if it's worth paying.

I would not recommend the DIY expat offering. I filled in all the info and expected it to be similar to TurboTax etc in that I could tweak various things and recalculate the tax and forms myself. However, once you get to the end you see what forms are generated and if you want anything changed, you must message them to sort it out. I'm still waiting for a response one week on...  If I need to change anything else, I suspect that would be another week + of waiting? Doesn't seem fit for purpose to me and no good way to contact customer services other than via email. If your return is straightforward I would avoid it. I've used some of the freefile options from the IRS before - I think Taxslayer? - when my income was fairly small in the past.
