Medical insurance for travel back to the US

Hello,

I have been living in the UK on a marriage visa since May 2018. I am looking to visit the home for a month in July of 2021 but I need Health Insurance whilst staying there.

I do not anticipate anything to happen, but I was diagnosed with Brain Cancer in 2020 and am currently undergoing chemo therapy, so it's important for me to be covered just incase. I have been cleared to travel by my Dr. but the UK travel insurance companies I've contacted won't cover me because it exceeds their limit.

I know there are many options out there, but I thought I'd ask here since I've had some really helpful answers while going through the visa process in the past.

These are my main questions:
- Is there a UK Travel insurance company someone has used to travel abroad/ to the US that they can recommend?
- Is it better to get insurance from a US based  insurance company, instead of a UK base company?

I've used AllClear in the past when traveling to the US due to pre-existing medical conditions.  I've never had to claim (thankfully), so I can't comment on how that process is like (good/bad/easy/difficult/etc), but in regards to getting covered for assorted medical conditions, I've not had a problem with them.

Having just been looking through the bills submitted on my behalf to Medicare, I do hope you were able to find some sort of insurance and have not traveled to the USA without it.

People not from the USA don't comprehend how horrifically expensive medical care is here. (It was going to be about $600 for a simple two-view chest x-ray with a doctor's interpretation of it, had I not had Medicare! The diagnostic blood tests that have been billed so far are just breathtakingly expensive individually. Thankfully, they are covered for me, but eye-watering just to read on the billing summary just the same.)
