Proving to NHS I can sign up BEFORE Married
« on: July 13, 2021, 02:35:09 PM »
So, the NHS called me a few days after signing up with them to tell me that I cannot sign up with them until AFTER I am married. So they shredded my paperwork for safety reasons.
Is there a specific way I can prove to them that it is normal for me to sign up even when it is not for a specific medical need while I am in the country?
We did tell them we are marrying and that I am moving here and I assume we mentioned my visa.
It's just that all I have for proof to apply for an FLR M is gas bill, electric bill and council tax which says Mr instead of Ms

I don't have cell phone bill because I had to have my own account and they didn't approve my credit (no idea why but the bank card I have is only good in the US and the bank is only online - no branches - so that could be why)
I don't have a water bill because it is not due yet. I do notice a payment is going out on the 15th and we are supposedly signed up for paper billing and my name is on the website, so, fingers crossed...
Not heard back from the bank in weeks after applying to be added to his account and mailing it in...

I wonder if our paperwork from the wedding registry will have both our names on it. . . It should be sent to us this weekend.

It is 100% NOT an issue to not be registered with the NHS before you have FLR(M).  In fact, it's better NOT to be as then you can't end up with a bill that could cause a refusal.

For your FLR(M), having gas, electric, and council tax is FANASTIC.  You just need to include a letter saying that your current stay has been short and so you only have 3 items.  NONE ISSUE.   :D

That’s not a problem. They won’t be expecting you to have any more than that. As KFDancer said, you just need to write a letter explaining that you are on a fiancé visa and have only been here a few months.

US credit does not transfer to the UK, so you have to start building UK credit from scratch when you move here... which means it will likely take a year or two of building UK credit before you will be approved for a cell phone contract and/or a credit card... if you need a cell phone, you’ll likely need to get one on Pay As You Go.
