FLR (M) Checklist
« on: May 11, 2021, 09:07:55 PM »
Hi All

Finally received the last bit of evidence for my wife's FLR application, so thought I would get a checklist started to make sure its all up to scratch.

Applicant Documents
1. Current US passport with every page scanned
2. Signed Online application (just wanted to check my evidence here before submitting the application)

Proof of Identity/Travel History
1. Current BRP scanned both sides
2. UK passport with every page scanned

Finances
Option 1 - Cat(A) - Salary over £18600
1.Payslips covering September 2020 - April 2021 - I have paper payslips addressed to myself up until December 2020 and only electronic payslips from January 2021 - April 2021. I have received stamped copies of these today and a letter which says 'Please find copies of payslips for Mr **** ******* duly stamped and initialled. Unfortunately, original payslips are not available.' This letter is on company headed paper and sent direct from our payroll department. Im hoping this will be acceptable as my company are really strict on what details they release.
2. Bank statements covering September 2021 - April 2021 sent direct from the bank
3. Letter from employer stating my gross salary, time with the company, type of employment and my job title.
4. Pay deferral letter from April 2020 - we had to take a 10% pay deferral last year due to covid and this was paid back to employees in December 2020, thought it might be worth sending this as it is shown on my payslips.
5. P60 - I still haven't received my P60 for this year, am I alright to use my 2020 P60?
6. Job contract - I moved on to a new contract last year (same company) should I include this?

Residence in the UK
1. Mortgage Statement January 2021
2. Council tax bill 2021/22
Cohabitation
Letters from April 2019-2021
April 2019 - Joint - Council Bill
August 2019 - Joint - British Gas bill
December 2019 - Didn't have anything for this month, I have included a letter from Lloyds addressed to both of us regarding a home insurance renewal dated 6th Jan 2020. Shall I include a letter explaining why it isn't December?
April 2020 - Wife water bill, Husband TV license
August 2020 - Wife credit card statement, Husband AMEX credit card statement
December 2021 - Wife NHS letter, Husband different credit card statement
April 2021 - Wife TV license, Husband AMEX credit card statement

Other
1. Marriage Certificate

Im hoping this is everything and is all acceptable, my company have certainly made getting evidence from them very tricky which has delayed us applying by about a month.

Thanks in advance for your help as always!

You don’t need this. The online application is simply submitted and transmitted online - no need to upload it.

What you do need to scan and upload instead though are the following:
- signed sponsor declaration (part of the online form)
- Part 1 Consent to Checks form signed by applicant (part of the online form)
- Part 2 Consent to Checks form signed by sponsor (part of the online form)

I hope this will be okay.

It may be worth including a short cover letter explaining that you asked them to give more details of the payslips but that they could not provide them.

You can if you want, but it’s only optional to include a P60.

As with the P60, it’s optional but you can include it if you want to.

Yes, you just need to include an explanation. You can do this in the same letter as explaining the payslip verification.

Thanks for the quick reply and taking the time to answer my questions it's really appreciated.

Just one more thing I've thought of, our mortgage is in my name, so do I need to mention this in a letter at all? On the land registry (Should I send a copy of this?) the house is only in my name.

Oh, sorry, I missed that.

Yes, you MUST send the Land Registry, it’s the most important accommodation document... because it proves you own the house.

So, for the accommodation requirement, you have to include:

Proof of Homeownership:
- Land Registry document
And
Proof of monthly housing costs:
- latest mortgage statement
- latest council tax bill

There’s nothing to mention in a letter as they will not be expecting the applicant’s name to be on the Land Registry or the mortgage (since it’s difficult to get approved for a mortgage when you have a visa, due to lack of UK credit history).

Online application all submitted! Booked our biometrics appointment for the 27th May and have gone for the enhanced appointment, not sure whether its worth paying for but seems worth having our documents checked before submitting. Am I right in thinking as our application is now submitted its not a problem that our BRP expires on the 22nd May?

Thanks again  :)

Just thought I would update that our FLR application was approved on the 6th July. Not bad processing time all things considered at the minute. A big thanks to you all for your help yet again!

Now to start preparing for the next visa I guess ILR, the joys! Is it just a case of collecting mail now and then worry about the rest when the time comes?

Congratulations!

Keep all mail. Pass your life in the UK test as soon as you can to get it out of the way. Be aware of how you're going to meet the financial requirement. Accommodation requirement is the same.

I second larrabee with regard  to the Life in the UK test.  Get that pass certificate as soon as you can.  It never expires, and you don't want to be up against it because you put it off and forgot about it (it happens).

Other than that, applying for ILR is just like FLR(M), except the cash savings route for ILR only requires £32,600.
9/1/2013 - "fiancée" (marriage) visa issued
4/6/2013 - married (certificate issued same-day)
5/6/2013 - FLR(M)#1 in person -- approved!
8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)
