With citizenship, UK or US, just about the only reason you can lose it and be deported is for treason.
An individual can be deprived of their British citizenship if it is later found that in an application they used -
-fraud
-false representation
-concealment of a material fact .
The Secretary of State may also deprive an individual of citizenship where they are satisfied that deprivation is conducive to the public good. That also covers national security, what the UK deems to be serious crimes, war crimes and unacceptable behaviours.
There is no time limit for deprivation of British citizenship. Under the Immigratiom Act 1971, they don't get their settlement back (ILR, Settled Status) when deprived of their British citizenship
The Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002, removed the protection of not losing citizenship for those who are born British. It's now the same for those who are born British and those who naturalised (adult)/registered (child) as British, as long as they are not made stateless.
With the Immigration Act 2014, British citizenship can now be removed if the Secreatry of State only thinks they have a claim to another citizenship even if they don't hold/still hold that citizenship. Which means the UK meets the requirement of not making somebody stateless when they are deprived of their British citizenship.
