Citizenship Approval E-mail and next steps
« on: August 24, 2024, 08:42:52 PM »
Hi All, hope everyone’s doing well. My wife just got an e-mail saying her citizenship has been approved and now need to book the ceremony. We both were shocked and surprised as she only had her biometrics 5 weeks ago so we were expecting more like 16 weeks +.  We are over the moon either way.

Just have couple of questions if someone can clarify please

1. Under Indian law she needs to surrender her passport within the 3 months from what I gather from being granted British citizenship. Can she still apply for a British passport before surrendering her Indian passport?.

2. While she books surrendering her passport to Indian consulate. Can she travel around Europe with the new British passport?.

I hope someone can help?

Regards

It does seem that you should get the UK passport first.
