Child and adult passport renewal
« on: February 13, 2022, 09:52:20 AM »
Hello!

We're heading to the embassy next week. For those who have recently renewed a child's passport, what was the wait time for return?

I'm also renewing my passport and in that section of the the embassy's web site it says the turn around is approximately three weeks but I don't want to assume anything is the same between adult/child renewals.

(I'm not asking because of travel plans. We are possibly moving house and I'm trying to decide what return address to use.)

Thanks!

Hi Robin.

We registered our child's birth and got her first passport and the passport took three weeks (to the day).

That was in October. Three weeks for a new passport i would consider the benchmark and i cannot imagine renewals taking longer than that. However, that was 4 months ago.

We renewed my daughter's child passport via the Edinburgh consulate on 8 February and I just got her passport today (16th February.) If you take out the day we actually did it and today to get here, it took 5 working days.

We were told it would come w/b 28 February.

Thanks, both!

Just to update the thread in case anyone else is lurking. We did our appointment at the London embassy this week. I brought along my application and submitted it with my daughter's instead of mailing it. They said 2-3 weeks to return both of them.
