Relationship breakdown on FLR-M

Hello,
Just looking for some general advice and wanting to make sure what I've read is correct.
I'm going through a relationship breakdown but have not filed for divorce yet because I'm waiting until the new divorce law comes into effect in April. With that---there is a waiting period of 6 months. I had planned to file in April, stay here and work for the next 6 months until it is time to finalize and then go back home. However, it occurred to me that because I'm on my 2nd FLR-M that I might not be able to do that.

From what I've read--I have notify the HO of a separation or divorce and then they typically give 60 days for you to either leave the country or file for a new visa. The trouble I'm having is WHEN to notify them. Do I have to notify them when I file? After I file?

Any advice or guidance that anyone has on this situation--it would be greatly appreciate. TIA.

You are supposed to notify them as soon as you know that the relationship has permanently broken down and that there is no chance of working things out... regardless of whether you plan to file, or have already filed, for divorce or not.
