Mbmoffat - after uploading your docs did you get any confirmation email? I did click submitted afterwards.

Our appointment is on 30th November. I did select the document checking service so I'd have thought they'd get in touch at some point confirming receipt?

Hi Tazzy,

Yes we received a confirmation email before biometrics as below.  I think the deadline for doc checking is 48 hours before Biometrics so presumably yours will arrive around that time frame (so Monday or Tuesday).   If it were me, if an email doesnt arrive, I would take my docs with me to Biometrics just in case but I am super duper careful and over-engineer this stuff because we moved around so much for my work... this is actually why we are back in the UK to get my wife sorted forever... her UK citizenship ceremony is the 20th Dec.... almost 6 years after we started the process.

"If you have paid for UKVCAS Document Checking (£48) you will receive the following email before Biometrics:
Thank you for uploading your supporting documents to the UK Visas and Citizenship Application Service website. We have now completed the following checks of the files that were available as of (today's date).
• Checked for the presence of all mandatory documents
• Checked that all documents are legible
• Checked that all documents been uploaded to the correct category
• Checked for any obvious missing pages
• Checked that all uploaded documents are in either English or Welsh language, or have an accompanying English or Welsh translation.
No action required: Following a review of supporting documents available, we can confirm that:
• Mandatory documents are present in all required categories
• All documents are legible
• All documents have been uploaded to the correct category
• There are no obvious missing pages in any of the documents
• All documents are in either English or Welsh language, or are accompanied with an English or Welsh translation that obviously relates to the original."

Cheers Matt and you're absolutely not over-engineering it at all. My wife in particular is super paranoid so we were planning to take everything with us anyway and have it in the car with me if need be while I wait. I'm just waiting on the document upload bit to show as submitted, no doubt hopefully by Tuesday it will show as such and if there are any queries hopefully the send them through quickly!

How was your wife's experience at the biometrics? Did they ask many questions or was it more of a routine procedure?

Hi Tazzy,

The Biometrics staff in Southampton were absolutely lovely.  Really pleasant and helpful.  It was all routine.  I try and be friendly and kind with people in jobs like this which are ultimately a bit boring and they have to deal with a million complaints or problems,  and they seem to often respond well.
I have a lot of faith in the process, they do fix problems. Which bearing in mind the disproportionate costs involved they should!

Same with energy companies....    DPD delivery, however, can do one.

Cheers,

Matt

Hi Matt,

I agree. DPD delivery drivers haha! I just got the email through which I've pasted below. Assuming we're all good here?!

Looking good!...

Matt just wanted to let you know that we got the approval email! Thank you so much for your help. Was feeling so tense about this but everything you've provided to a T just worked!

We won't be going for citizenship for the time being so we're OK for now. Just waiting on BRP.

Don't leave it too long. It's much easier to keep going with these applications while you have momentum.  :)

All too soon, years go by and you've never got round to it and life throws you a curve ball and you end up loosing your ILR because you've spent too long out of the UK. It sounds unlikely, but it happens.

I would second Larrabee's advice to get this done, particularly while you are in the groove of doing the applications.
It's a lot easier than the other applicatons, lasts forever / cannot be lost and you never need to think about it again.

Hi all,

Didn't think I'd be back so soon to share this update to my timeline!!

Submitted online ILR application on 17th October 2022
Attended Biometrics appointment on 4th November 2022  (normal appointment, but paid for document checking service)
Received email confirmation that application has been approved today!!! 20th December 2022 ... BRP due to arrive in the post in the next 7 days (assuming it will be longer due to mail strikes and holidays)

Only 2 months from application to decision email, I was shocked as I was really not expecting to hear until March / April just based on other's average waits recently.

Good luck everyone applying now & in the near future!! (& Thanks for all the help and advice along the way as usual)

Hi All,

Thanks as always for all the help and support. Just have a quick question about uploading documents to the UKVCAS website for priority. For FLR I seem to remember them preferring the document scans to be converted to black and white. Is this the case for ILR? And is there a desired dpi/resolution for the scans?

Thanks,
NWKH

The scanning requirements are the same for all types of application.

You can check the upload requirements here:
