Hello!
I have always been able to do self-assessment on my own because my UK based taxes were really straightforward. However in 2021 my dad passed away so now I have some overseas related tax activity related to insurance policies and the like that were taxable in the US and that I have documents on but will need to file with HMRC.

Recommendations for a knowledgable accountant in the UK that understands US/UK tax treaties? I know there are some in London but they are a bit pricey. Just curious to your experience and recommendations. I'm in Milton Keynes.

Another one, I'd throw in the ring is Damian Talbot at Warrener Stewart - he's a UK Chartered Accountant and an IRS enrolled agent.

I used Damian back in 2017 to review my streamlined filing before I successfully  'came clean' I found the costs reasonable (circa £1k + VAT) and found Damian to be very knowledgeable (although he has junior assistant (s) who do the grunt work!).

I'm based in Northampton, and Warrener Stewart are based in Fulham - did it all remotely.

Whoever you eventually use, let us know how you get on.
