Citizenship - expunged driving record

I am applying for Citizenship and requested my public and court driving records from my home state. There is absolutely nothing on my record.

I am curious how to detail things when I may only have a vague memory of when it occurred. The list might include a speeding ticket, parking ticket and a collision.

Just document it to the absolute best of your recollection and make sure they know you're going from distant memory only. That's what we had to do and it was fine.

I'm just thinking ahead a few weeks/months when I do my application. Thankfully not much driving record stuff for me, but I did get a few bus lane photo infractions a few years back here in Scotland. They were for my car registration, but not me personally as a driver. Do you know if I need to track these down?

Yes. You're going to want to document those and just say it wasn't you driving.

Yeah, I had some super old parking tickets from the US too. I made it clear that I didn't have documentation for any of them, they were from a long time ago, and the information I provided was to the best of my ability to remember them. No issue.

Ha! Either way, document it. It won't hurt the application. 

Those bus lanes are impossible to get right.

Yes. I had a parking ticket on my husband's car. The meter wasn't working, I'd left a note. I contested it and won but we still mentioned it.

I had two speeding tickets from way back, one whose details I could remember and another that I could only partially recollect. I entered the known details and best guesses to the application form. In addition I believe I had a third ticket but could only be sure of the decade and the state in which it was incurred. There is a 500-character comment section, and I used it to explain thus:

The date of (day, month) for the (year) speeding fine in (location) is approximate. Also, if my memory serves me right, I incurred one more speeding fine in the US State of (state name) in (decade). I cannot recall the details including exact date, location and amount of fine. I could not find it in the State's driving and court records to the best of my effort.
