Another citizenship application question…
Using my passport for Proof of living in the UK for 3 years (British spouse):
In what scenario will my passport not be enough and I need an employer letter etc? I just want to make sure everything that is needed goes in the first go round.
Your passport will be enough in pretty much all cases. For people who moved here on a spousal visa and are applying for citizenship based on being married to a UK citizen, it's rare to need to provide anything other than your passport.
The only time you would need an employer letter is if, for example, you had lost the passport(s) which showed when you entered the UK, and instead you had to use evidence of your employment to prove continuous residence in the UK.
Compared to your visas, almost no documents are required for a citizenship application, so it should be really straightforward.
All you should need to provide is the following:
- current passport
- previous passport, if you initially entered the UK on a different passport than your current one (i.e. if you have renewed your passport since moving here)
- your ILR BRP card
- your spouse's UK passport
- your marriage certificate
- 2 signed referee forms
