Confusing email from Home Office after ILR submission
« on: November 24, 2022, 03:37:36 PM »
Can anyone advise me about an email I received today from the Home Office telling me to "make an appointment to enrol your biometric information at a UK Visa and Citizenship Application Services centre."

My memory and thinking aren't what they used to be, particularly after a cerebral hemorrhage in May, so this message has me really befuddled.

I applied for Indefinite Leave to Remain on 20 September, and then received an invitation email to use the Identity Verification app on 26 September. I used the app to successfully submit all the information requested by 7 October. I thought this meant that I did not need to make an appointment at a UKVCAS centre.

This email today is the first I have heard since 7 October, and it says I now have 14 days for the biometrics. I guess my next step will be to phone the help number in the email, but wanted to check with brain trust here. Thanks in advance!

I'll just update my progress on this issue in case anyone else has a similar experience:

I spoke by phone this morning to a couple of agents at the UK Visas and Immigration Contact Centre who told me that the email I got yesterday from the  Home Office was probably generated automatically and is in error. They suggested I ring UKVCAS to check that my biometrics did come through okay via the app.

I then waited on hold on the phone with UKVCAS, waiting for an agent, until I gave up. I will try contacting UKVCAS by the web form on the "Help and Support" page on their web site.

Anyone else have a similar experience? (Using the app, but later getting an email that I must book a biometrics appointment or have my application rejected.)
