Citizenship wait time and traveling
« on: December 04, 2022, 05:22:43 PM »
Hi all,
It’s been ages since I’ve needed your sage advice.  You all helped me tremendously Ben I filed for my fist visa way back in 2012 and I hope you won’t mind helping me out again.

Mid June I applied for citizenship.  I applied online and was notified that I could use UKVCAS app to submit my supporting documents via the app.  I did everything requested and yet to hear back about the status of my application.  I’m really starting to get worried as I’ve seen others on here apply and get notification pretty quick.  Next week will be 6 months since I applied with no answer. Is there anything I can do to find out what is wrong/happening with my application?

To make matters more complicated, I am hoping to travel next year however my USA passport is in my married name as I just renewed it and my ILR is in my maiden name.  Am I right in thinking I cannot travel if my ILR and US passports are in different names? I hesitate to book any travel back to the USA until I know what is happening with my citizenship as I don’t want to lose money.  Any thoughts?

I am applying for citizenship in my married name, my marriage certificate was included in my application.  Hopefully that will mean everything will be all finalised in my married name.

Any help or advise will be appreciated.  I am really stressing out as to what has gone wrong.  The whole process has gone so smoothly up until now so I guess I’m m due some added stress and worry!

Thanks,
Kristina
