ILR/How long have you lived in the UK question/when to start?
« on: February 03, 2023, 02:29:52 PM »
Hi everyone,
I'm working on my ILR application. I moved to the UK on a Fiancee visa on 17th July 2017, but my first FLR-M was issued in January 2018. Would me living here start under the fiancee visa or the  FLR-M?

Thanks  ;D

In regards to meeting the qualifying period for ILR, only the time spent on FLR(M) can count towards the 5 years… so your count to ILR started in January 2018, and your 5 years was up in January 2023 (so you’ve been eligible to apply for ILR since December 2022).

In regards to the question on the application form which asks when you started living in the UK, you put down 17th July 2017, because that was the date you moved here on your fiancé visa.

Hi Ksand,
Yes-correct. My current BRP doesn't expire until 21 April 2023 so I plan on submitting the application end of Feb. I would have done it sooner but, life!

And thank you for answering my question!  :)
