Fedex Phone for Paper Copies Sent to IRS From UK
« on: February 24, 2023, 01:47:26 PM »
I see the address to use for Fedex hard copy submissions of returns for 22 is still

Austin - Internal Revenue Submission Processing Center
3651 S IH35
Austin TX 78741
USA

But what is the relevant IRS phone number as that is typically asked for by the Fedex agent. I typically use (512)460-7944 which was on a 2011 IRS document when the US embassy in London was at Grosvenor Square.  However, when calling that it says voice mail is not set up and hangs up.  I called the IRS International Taxpayer Line on 267-941-1000 and the agent commented that was not the number to use.  He gave me the number 737-800-7718.  When I called that number, it is perpetually busy.  I will keep trying but I thought I would ask around to see if anyone else has had any luck with the proper number to use.

Thanks.

Fedex has a well trodden path to the IRS in Austin & won't use any phone number you give them. In the past all I've done is filled in the IRS 1-800 number and never had an issue.

It is standard practice to provide one's own phone number or email address to all courier's sending documents to the IRS. In the rare occasion the courier needs to contact someone, you'd be the best person to contact.
