Hi all,

I've applied for ILR/SET(m) (super priority) and my biometics appointment is on Monday.

My mother (in the US) has covid and has gone downhill. My religious/cultural background is that if there is a death, then the domino effect of things happen very quickly.

Let's say everything goes textbook and I get my ILR approved on Tuesday. Would I need to have my BRP in hand to travel? I would need to travel with my infant so unfortunately the egates would be off limits. If I travel via Dublin (likely) then I know I have to explain my right to live in the UK with Irish officials.

Thanks for any advice you may have.

Sorry I can't offer much advice about your specific question.  Don't forget that if it's a matter of life and death, your MP can do a lot to help.

Thanks so much for the reminder. I wouldn't have considered it.

I'm so sorry, I hope things turn around for your mother quickly and she's able to recover. Definitely contact your MP if help is needed, it usually takes a few weeks for the BRP but you would likely have the confirmation of ILR approval in an email on Tuesday.

A few weeks?

It takes 7-10 days for the BRP to arrive in the post, though most people here on the forum have received it about 4 days after the approval email.

If you get the approval email on Tuesday, I would imagine that you should receive the BRP either the end of next week or perhaps early the week after.

Thank you, I'm hoping I don't need to rush over but it's good to plan for any eventuality.
