Spousal visa questions
« on: July 05, 2023, 10:44:39 AM »
Hi, it's now reached the time to gather all the paper/document evidence to start the wifes' application!!

A couple of questions..

She was divorced back in the 90s and her divorce decree is like 50 or 60 pages!? Do we scan all or just the end page??

How much does this actually cost, as in the UK visa, NHS surcharge and priority processing/VFS Global ?? Kind of confusing reading all the different pages..

Sure there'll be more questions once I've started gathering and checked my bank statements and payslips.  Thanks in advance for all and any help/info !!

There's definitely more questions! ;D

With the minimum 6 months payslips I've read on here that it's best to wait 7 months to have 6months covering the entire period?

I started a job middle of December 2022 and the first payslip December 31st, was obviously under the £1550 gross minimum . But the following remainder payslips January thru June 2023 have all been above the £1550 minimum.

Do we need/is it best to wait till I have the July slip aswell?  I technically have 7 months but that first one is below £1550 ...

Scan every single page, and if you’re smart save the scans for the next visa.
It is best to have 7 payslips and 7 matching bank statements to ensure that you are not a single day short.
Don’t forget  messages, texts, emails, boarding passes etc. showing that you have maintained a relationship. Accommodation documents, passports, so much fun

Regarding how much the whole process costs, with the actual UK spousal Visa charge/NHS surcharge and VFS Global cost how much does it actually add up to ?

Been looking and searching and it's a minefield!

The UK visa is £1538 , NHS surcharge £624 per year so is that initial cost £624 x 2.5 = £1,560? Am I correct so far?

Then what are the VFS prices? The wife looked and wasnt sure of cost/which one,  we know its down to regular/premium etc

Question regarding the accommodation proof. Will be living with dad in the family home which he owns, we will need the letter from him, copy of the title "register" (£3) would we need a council tax bill/receipt??

Anything else required from him to do with accommodation proof or is that it?

The spouse visa is for 33 months and a part 6 months on a visa, is billed for healthcare. Therefore she must pay for 3 years, which at todays price is £1,872.00

More than 6 months but less than one year

Wherever you apply from, you’ll have to pay the cost of a full year.

So the £1538 for the visa, and as you wrote 3 years @ £1,872 for the NHS bit?

Thanks for all help and advice!

Yes, healthcare £624 x 3 years on a spouse visa.

I don't know the price of the spouse visa; others will tell you.

The government recently announced that the prices are going up; to £1,035.00 per year for healthcare and at least a 20% rise for the visa fee. We don't know the start date yet.

One question regarding the letters needed to be written by myself and dad  do they have to be hand written or word processed, printed off and signed?

Probably such a basic question but I'm sitting here triple thinking everything and not knowing what they prefer?

Also when uploading evidence/proof can both parties upload to the same account or purely the wife/applicant? We do have dropbox so that would help if only her...

Not sure if I am going to be much help here but I just filed my application on Saturday.       .
These were the amounts I was charged (I'm in the US, and they hit my bank as US dollar charges so that's all I can give you)
    .
  • The UK Visa fee itself was $2,092.oo .
  • The IHS(NHS) surcharge was $2,546.81 .
  • The VFS global was $2,200.oo
(for VFS I think I got premium? Hope I did! but the website was as clear as mud when I was trying to work it out and I can only hope. I don't know if there will be any additional VFS related charges when I get to the biometric appointment....
Good luck to you both on the process! :D

Edited: I got the prices mixed up. The VFS was 2,200 and the UK was 2,092

Obvious question #435  ;D

What format do you actually arrange and upload the documents , pictures, screenshots in? Read in other threads that WhatsApp logs etc screenshots pasted into a word document.

Do you literally make one big word document with multiple pages with tabs etc ( we had to make a whole physical package/file folder with dividers and tabs for the LPR aka green card for me going to the USA) or just separate pages??

We created seperate PDF documents for each category of documents required e.g. my payslips were all in one PDF, so were our flight bookings between  the US and UK etc....

For WhatsApp messages and emails we cut and pasted them in Word and then saved the Word document as a PDF.

Everything we uploaded was in PDF format, even the two photographs (one from  the start of our relationship and one taken at our wedding). I think you can upload photos in .jpg format though.

Probably got lost in one of my other questions, with the cover and sponsor letters along with one from my father regarding the accommodation how do they prefer these?

Hand written, signed and scanned or word processed,  printed signed and scanned back in ?

I typed my sponsor letter in Word, addressed it to the Immigration Officer, signed it manually and then scanned it in PDF format for uploading.

When actually applying does the UK.gov site link to VFS or does the applicant just go to VFS Global site after paying etc for the visa app and sign up/book biometrics that way?

Also looking at the VFS site which package do you actually go for? I know we wil be doing priority for the actual visa, so probably priority for VFS aswell.

They have quite a few! Is there much difference between the premium setttlement and standard settlement packages $2200 and $1320 respectively??

Also do you add on the priority Visa for settlement service $765? I know alot depends on money and what you choose I'm just making sure these are the correct ones to look at/decide.

So it's  £1538 UK Visa , £1875 NHS £625 × 3 , any priority ££ on visa?? Then whatever VFS $2200 /$1320

Again, thank you for reading and all help info and advice.
Sorry if this seems rambling it's just last minute oh heck ,we have the stuff just putting all this together..
