Please help ahh .. application questions
« on: July 14, 2023, 08:23:26 AM »
I do not quite understand these 3 questions on the ILR application

Your social cultural and family ties ..

Do you have any family in your country of birth , Nationality or any other country where you have lived for more than 5 years

Yes or no

Then explain the reason

Question 2 :
Do you have any friends in your country of birth nationality or any other country where you have lived for more than 5 years
Yes or no
Explain the reason

3) are you part of any social groups or do you have any other cultural ties in your country of birth ,nationality or any other country where you have lived for more than 5 years ?

Or do I just chose no .. I am so confused ?

Please help !!!

Thank u again 😊

They ask these questions to determine, if your visa falls for refusal and you have to leave the UK, whether you have anything to go back to in order to be able to survive in your home country (or other countries where you have previously resided for more than 5 years)

Your social cultural and family ties ..

Do you have any family in your country of birth , Nationality or any other country where you have lived for more than 5 years

Yes or no

Then explain the reason

So, for this one, you list every family member you have in the US, starting with immediate family and working your way out.

Question 2 :
Do you have any friends in your country of birth nationality or any other country where you have lived for more than 5 years
Yes or no
Explain the reason

For this one, you list every friend you have in the US, starting with closest friends.

Or do I just chose no .. I am so confused ?

This one is asking about social communities you belong to in the US, who might be able to support you and help you sort out your life in the US if you had to return.

For example:
- a church community you belong to back home
- a cultural community you are part of back home
- any social organisations, groups or clubs you belong to back home (like sororities, DAR, sports etc.)

If you don't belong to any, then you tick NO and explain that you don't belong to any

For the home office reference number :

Question :

Do you have any home office reference numbers ?

Would this be on the BRP mail that was sent with the card .. I am assuming??

Home Office reference numbers are usually only issued on letters that are sent by UKVI from inside the UK... for example,. if you appeal a visa refusal or apply for asylum/refugee status from in the UK, you will receive a letter with a Home Office reference number associated with your case on it (either written as Our Ref. or Case ID)..

So, if you have had written contact with UKVI from within the UK and have received a letter with a reference number on it, you can put that in.

If you haven't, you can leave it blank.

On the end of the part of the application that is part 2 callede ( application)

The last question :  additional applicant
If this is the first time you are applying for leave in this category you cannot include dependent children over the age of 18 you can include a child who is now eating over there was a initially granted leave in this category when they we’re under 18

You must show that they are still dependent on you for financial support and not leading an independent life and that they have not formed their own family unit for example got married or had their own children

To add another applicant , select their relationship to you ?

Then it says : I would like to add a
(With a blank box )
Is there where I add my husband ? Or keep it blank ??

No, your husband is not applying for a visa because he is a UK citizen and is your sponsor.

You are the only applicant, so you don't have anyone else to add.

You would only add an extra applicant if you had a non-UK citizen dependant child under the age of 18 who came to the UK with you on a child dependant visa, and you are applying for ILR for both of you.

Just another question regularising mail :

Is it ok to use June mail instead of July …

So starting :

Dec 2020
May 2021
Oct 2021
March 2022
Aug 2022
Jan 2023
June 2023

That's fine to use those months.

Often people won't have received mail dated in the same month as they are applying yet, so it's fine to use months ending with the previous month before applying.

What you don't want to do though, is have your last mail item be from more than 1 month before you apply (i.e. last item of mail being from May if you are applying in July)
