Ummm, well it's not the Balkans again

CNN:  Satellite images of Belarus garrison show increase in vehicles and equipment.  The buildup comes as Belarus’ defense ministry said its forces will hold joint military exercises with Wagner fighters near its border with NATO member Poland.  https://www.cnn.com/europe/live-news/russia-ukraine-war-news-07-22-23/h_886e2e6a8c888ecd802a57a7c6621189

Germany has publicly stated that they will support Poland. Since Poland is NATO, as is Germany, that means all NATO members will defend Poland and Germany. As of the evening news a few nights ago, Poland has stationed large numbers of military - tanks, etc. - along the border with Belarus. So one wrong move by a Cowboy from the Belarus/Russian side ignites it all.

This is making me feel really ... unwell ... as well as uneasy. Pandemics. Global warming. Massive fires, people drowning trying to get somewhere that they can find food and a decent life - and those that make it end up in what are basically concentration camps. I would have thought that was enough chaos for the universe to have at any one given point.  Do we really need to go down this other road? Again? Seriously?

And is the US military (or the UK's for that matter) in any shape to deal with it? Oh, you have to be kidding, right? It's the same movie, just slightly different players, as the last time Europe went up. And that doesn't even take China into account. China has way more natural resources (and people) than Japan did. Dumb luck only goes so far.

Oy.  Just oy.

I'm not so worried about Poland and Belarus, no way is Russia taking on Nato.  We've had stray weapons land in Poland and everyone kept their cool.  Even if Poland is attacked by some Belarussian nutter, they have to ask for Nato to help and they may not even do that.

I'm thinking more in terms for "Cowboy" of that bald-headed guy who runs Wagner, actually. He'd be a bit worse than a stray surface to air missile.
