ILR finally granted!
« on: August 02, 2023, 03:05:10 PM »
I just received an email after more than 3 months of waiting! :D It was tough to wait every day! :\\\'(

I got it as a spouse and now I want to apply for citizenship immediately as I have been here for more than 5 years. I read somewhere that I have to wait for one year after getting ILR in order to apply for citizenship, does that rule apply to spouse ILR too?

Congratulations !

As you are married to a UK citizen, you do not have to wait to apply for citizenship. And you only have to show 3 years of UK residency.

So, you can apply as soon as you have your ILR BRP card.

If you were not married to a UK citizen, you would have to wait to apply for citizenship until you had held ILR for 12 months, and you would have to show 5 years of residency.

great! That's really good news. I was just reading on their website and what you're saying is correct. Now I started calculating my days outside the UK
