Applying for ILR next week!
« on: September 21, 2023, 01:51:05 PM »
Hello everyone!

I’m booking my life in the UK test today, and applying for ILR next week but I’m having a little trouble regarding my bank statement for September.

My bank statements usually come mid month, but my husband and I don’t get paid until the end of the month, so this month’s bank statement won’t be show when we get paid for September.

I found out I can go to the bank and they can print me off an official statement showing my account activity for specific dates, and they can sign it to authorize it. Would this be acceptable?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Yes, that would be fine. A lot of people do that to make the dates work. If it is printed in branch or sent to you in the post it doesn't need to be validated but if you want to do that for peace of mind, it's a stamp you need, not a signature.

If you have trouble getting an appointment in time, look at test centres further afield to increase your chances of getting one.

Perfect! Thank you so much!

Also when booking for the life in the UK test, they ask for given names and middle name. On my passport under given names it has my first and middle and my brp card has my first and middle name.
So would I put my first and middle name in given names and leave middle name section blank? Or just put my first name under given names and my middle name in the middle name section?

Sorry if I didn’t explain it well.

Apologies if I’m intruding. I have a related question bank statement-wise :
Can the date on the stamp be the date the application is submitted?

Many thanks,

Many thanks,

We submitted our application on the day where I had earlier gone to the branch to print out my bank statement, so the stamp date matched the application date.

Clearly wasn’t a problem as our ILR application was approved.

**** Ooo, correction -  we submitted it the day after as we stayed up until 1am to get the super-priority. ***

Hope that helps,

Tim

I passed my Life in the UK test yesterday!  So happy that’s done!  ;D But now I’m filling out the application.

At the moment is wants me to confirm that a declaration will be signed by my partner, but I can’t find where I can get the declaration form. Does anyone know where I could find this?

Thank you!

Also another question I have, I’m filing out the application and it’s asking about social groups which includes social networks, does that mean I put down all my social media? And if it’s asking where are they located…?

I just need clarification because I’m confused.

No, it's physical groups in the US such as churches, sports clubs, that sort of thing. Only relevant if you're refused.

Thank you for clarifying that  ;D

I do have a few more questions I’m a bit confused on and would appreciate help on:

Were you married when you were last granted leave in this category?
I’m assuming I put yes but do they mean like ILR category? Because this is my first time applying for an ILR.

Have you lived permanently with your partner in the UK since being granted temporary leave as a partner?
Again, I’m assuming ‘yes’ but I don’t understand what they mean by temporary leave.

How long has your partner lived in the UK?
My partner was born here so do I put old he is under the years and months?

Also it asked how long have I lived in the UK and I lived here since July 2018, so that’s 5 years and 2 months. Is that okay? Im only asking because I’m applying under the 5 year route and I’m over by two months.

I’m sorry, I know these are probably really obvious but I get really anxious about the visa stuff and overthink the whole process and questions.

Yes you were married
Yes you have lived with your partner
Yes your partner’s birth date.

When we completed our application last week, we put:

1) Yes
2) Yes - the previous visas you applied for (the initial entry clearance and FLR) are all time-limited, hence ‘temporary’.  ILR is the permanent one you’re entitled to apply for now.
3) I entered my age :-)
4) Yes, you would enter the time that has elapsed since you entered the UK on the initial spouse visa, which was 5 years and 0 months (September 2018) in our case.

Hope that help,

Tim

I’m not part of any sport clubs, or go to church. The question also says,” … do you have other cultural ties in your country of birth, nationality, or any other country where you lived for more than 5 years?”

I don’t really get what to put. I clicked on the ‘no’ option but it then asked to explain why not and include reason why me and my family would not be able to integrate into any of these countries .

I'd say yes, then put "friends and family" as your cultural ties.
