Oh dear.   :P

My husband put some on a piece of bread once and chased me around the kitchen.   I won't touch the stuff.   :(

Marmite isn't so good on toast, but it makes an nice addition to a vegetable stock. Gives a beefy-ish taste. Try adding a teaspoon sometime.

For anyone considering trying Marmite for the first time, or for trying it again after a bad first experience, I offer the following tips:   ;)

Slather hot toast in butter... REAL butter, not fake horrible margarine.  LOTS of butter!
Then apply a very thin, transparent layer of Marmite, making sure it melts into the pools of butter.
Do not slather the Marmite!!  Make sure it is just a very thin scraping.

It will end up like a savoury seasoned butter, and it's YUM!

Try it?

I totally agree Otterpop, that's just how I like it.  The mistake a lot of marmite newbies make is to whack it on, it's not meant to be like that.

I have never tried it. What can you compare the taste to? Is it nutty? Fruity? Licorace?

None of the above.  Kind of beefy but it's not made of meat, but yeast extract.

It's like nothing you've ever had before.   :o

Like the ads say, you either love it or hate it.   ;)

You know what's worse though.  Twiglets!  Because that's marmite masquerading as a snack!
