I would wait a couple of days until you're safely within the 28 days.

Many thanks.

Also does anyone have any sample of the cover letter we need to send with the application.

2nd Our company HR partner is based in Spain, so he sent me the employment letter only via email docusigned.  Would this be sufficient?

He can send me also an original copy but most likely not till after Christmas.

Thank you.

As far as I'm aware they have been accepting electronic signatures since Covid. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

A cover letter for FLR is only required if there is anything which needs further explanation so will depend entirely on the individual circumstances.

Hello guys,

Merry Christmas Everyone!  Hope you’ve all had a nice day.

So I am just about ready to send my application online.  I was wondering if anyone has applied recently and the timeline of processing.

My husband for Christmas sorted a trip for our family to Madeira, Portugal.  The date of the trip is 8th of March.  From what I read if everything is smooth it normally takes 6-8 weeks.  My FLR visa expires on the 20th of January and I am planning to submit the application online tomorrow or the next day.  What are the chances that I get my visa in time for this trip?

I don’t need a super priority service as I have about 9 weeks to get this visa, but I know it depends on when they actually get the application documents etc submitted, and attend my appointment.

I am actually thinking of filing priority, would this be available for my type of visa ( FLR M extension).  I think it’s extra £500 but at least it’s not £1000! Just to ease my worries.

Nothing like your husband do a nice gesture to surprise you but cause you extra stress LOL….

Thanks for the feedback.

Hi guys,

So I just decided to file Standard processing as for 1.  I don’t have the extra funds for Super Priority Processing. 2. My trip is not till the 2nd week of March, and I can just re schedule it if need be.  Fingers crossed that’s not the case.

My question now is in the list of documents.  It’s asking for proof of evidence where my children’s other parent leaves.  Would that just be like a letter or a bill addressed to my husband ?

I also have 2 NHS letters addressed to the parents of each of my children ( us) dated in the last 90 days.  Would that be also included?  For the proof of address for my children?

Thank you for your help.

Just wanted to bump this up in case someone has any feedback on my questions above.

Also for my husbands immigration status, I’ve included his British Passport ( all pages) and his UK Birth certificate.  I wasn’t sure which one is needed.  Or both.

You don't need his birth certificate, just the British passport.

Hi guys,

So I finally received my new BRP card today.

I went to my biometric appointment on the 3rd of January and I received my card today so it’s only about 4 weeks from my appointment.  I submitted my online application on the 27th of December.

My question on is when I looked at my BRP card the expiration says 31/12/2024.  Isn’t normally 2.5 years validity?

I came in on an ITC Work Visa on March 2019

Converted my visa to a FLR ( M) visa in June 2021 ( Valid July 2021 - 20 Jan 2024)

Then renewed it this time.

I don’t actually think I can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain until 5 years when I was on my FLR ( M) visa

Do you guys think this is a mistake by the home office ?  Or does it mean I can apply for the indefinite leave to remain in Dec 2024 when this BRP card expires ?

I am confused and concerned.

They basically gave me a 10 month visa and I paid for 2.5 years of NHS charge 🤦🏻‍♀️

Your visa itself is 2.5 years validity, it's just the BRP card that expires on 31/12/2024.

This is because they are getting rid of BRP cards completely on 31st December 2024, and from 1st January 2025, you will be able to prove your immigration status online instead. Therefore, all BRP cards issued for the last few years expire on 31/12/2024, even if the visas themselves are valid for longer.

This does not change the amount of time it will take you to qualify for ILR - it's still 5 years, which means you will be eligible for ILR in July 2026.

See here:
https://www.gov.uk/biometric-residence-permits/report-problem#:~:text=If%20there's%20a%20problem%20with,your%20BRP%20does%20not%20arrive.

From that page:

If your BRP expires on 31 December 2024

You do not need to tell UKVI if your BRP expires on 31 December 2024 but your immigration status (for example, your visa) allows you to stay longer.

You will not need a BRP from 1 January 2025. You’ll be able to prove your immigration status online, without a BRP.

UKVI will update their information on how to prove your immigration status in early 2024. You do not need to do anything and your immigration status will not be affected.
