British Citizenship Timeline
« on: January 17, 2024, 04:24:53 PM »
Hi all!

I had my British citizenship ceremony (lovely, though very brief!) yesterday and happy to share my timeline:

Application submitted: 18 July 2023

Biometrics (free): 04 August 2023

Approval: 13 November 2023

Ceremony (free/private by default in Exeter!): 16 January 2024

I could have paid for an earlier biometrics appointment but I wasn't in a rush this time and decided to wait until after a holiday to do that.

Same with my ceremony; I was offered 30 November, but I had a holiday booked from 14 December and had really no time to get my British passport - and that was not a risk I wanted to take! I was also offered a ceremony date of 21 December but I was returning late from holiday on this date.

So delighted to be free from immigration controls but now have to get the passport and then renew my American one as it expires this summer.

Other than my employer, is there anyone else I need to notify?

Thanks so much to this group for being my steady hand and calm ear during these past 6 years of this journey. I appreciated it!!
