Citizenship referee question
« on: July 15, 2024, 08:42:16 PM »
Hi all,

I’m about to apply for citizenship. Apologies if this has been asked and answered already (I did search). Does anyone know if a medical doctor/physician can be my professional referee? My best friend of 20 years is a doctor in the U.S. I’d like to ask her. I didn’t see doctors on the list but I saw somewhere that the UKVI list is not an exhaustive one. Has anyone successfully used a doctor as their professional standing referee for an adult citizenship application?

Alternatively, can I use a retired lawyer? I’m a retired lawyer myself and I have loads of former colleagues I could ask but they too are….retired. D’oh!  Other than my doctor friend, all the people of “professional standing”  I know are retired or family.

Many thanks!
