evisa/brp
« on: October 16, 2024, 04:30:30 PM »
Can someone help me. My husband has been living here since 2009 with a indefinite leave to enter visa. He is a US citizen. We have been backwards and forward to USA numerous times and have always shown his ILE in his old passport with no problems. However, yesterday on Facebook, of all places, I saw a immigration post that he will need a Evisa To get this he has to have a PRB. My husband is almost 80 and we were planning on one more visit to USA after Christmas. I have spoken to Visa and Immigration who told me he could apply for a PRB but they are stopping doing them after 31/12/24. I did start filling in the form online but towards the end it says they take about 6 months to process, so doesn't seem much use.
Can anyone tell me if he will still be able to use the ILE vignette in his old passport next year? I have tried to call Border Force but can't get them.

Hi Rosalyn, I don't have any answers for you but I just wanted to check in to see how you're getting on with your husband's evisa? Have you tried doing the application for the evisa without a BRP? I'd be really interested to hear your outcome.

I was told I couldn't do it without PRB, but PRBs are not being issued after 31/12 and it takes approx 6 months to get one issued. I don't see much point in applying if it is going to take 6 months as it is almost November.

You can no longer request a new or replacement BRP card. Read the guidance on what to do if yours has been lost, stolen or damaged. Since 31 October 2024, we no longer issue BRP cards.

The problem might be trying to board a plane to the UK without an eVisa from 1 January 2025.  Could you take your trip after he applies and then receives, his eVisa?

A thread from somebody who also has ILR in an old passport and no BRP, wanting to travel next month and return to the UK in January 2025 without an eVisa.
