UK Citizenship Application
Seeking advice on my problem. I will try to make it short. I applied for British Naturalization in June and came to find out one of my referees failed to mention they worked for the Home Office; they only told me they were a civil servant. I freaked out and withdrew my application. I emailed right away the Nationality enquiry and ROD and to stop the withdrawal and to add another referee. Supposedly, this was rectified and I went on to do my biometrics. Now, I’ve received an email stating I was being fully refunded the money because I didn’t do my biometrics. I don’t know? What type of system they have going on, but I definitely did my biometrics and uploaded all my documents as I was told my withdrawal application was stopped back in June. I emailed once again and I was told they reinstated and stopped the refund. I’m having huge issues thinking if they actually did their job this time as several people dropped the ball. They just gave me “ I’m sorry for the inconvenience.” Is there anything I can do at this point as I’m stressed and thinking nothing was done again?

I’ve also received an email last night that their records show that I didn’t do my biometrics when in fact i have emails that states every thing was sent to the home office from TLS Contact and what documents were uploaded. I’m really just over this whole situation at the moment. I can’t even speak to someone straight away through emails. I’ve phoned them and they are absolutely no help whatsoever.

Did you attend an in-person biometrics appointment at a TLS Service Point, or were you invited to submit your biometrics through the Immigration ID Check App (IDV app) instead (not sure if citizenship applicants can use the app or not though)?

Can you reply to the email they sent you with proof that you either attended a biometrics appointment or submitted using the IDV app?

(I.e. attach the emails, your biometrics appointment confirmation sheet, etc.)

I did biometrics in person as that’s what was requested to do. When I did settled status I was invited through immigration ID check app. Seems it’s random when they do it. I’ve emailed nationality biometrics and my proof. I did also contact TLS Service point. I have a lot going on with my application that’s hopefully fully being investigated.

You could try emailing FurtherNationalityEnquiries (at) homeoffice.gov.uk and citizenship.support (at) the same.

I have emailed both previously and received a reply from the first one.

I do think there is some funky system stuff going on. I am at nine months post application and just got an automated email suggesting I was at six (it was the email to say it cannot be processed in the average time frame). Have also seen posts on the other site where people have received communications blaming system issues for errors and delays.

You could also file an SAR to see what the official status is in their systems? I found I received my SAR faster than anything else.

Thank you very much. I have done this and received a reply from Further Nationality Enquiries. They replied with
We would like to reassure you that your enquiry has been noted and forwarded to the relevant department and will be looked into as soon as possible.  Please be assured that your query will be dealt with, without any avoidable delay.

This was from the person who confirmed before that the application was stopped back in June
So, really no answers from anyone about what’s going on.
I did file a complaint for them to look into.
All I can do is wait and watch my bank account. What do I put for SAR that I need from them ? Can I email or fill out form online?

Ahh, sorry! For SAR, I requested the basic version which meant they sent me my Atlas history (which showed me what I wanted to see) but you can request more detail as outlined on the website.

There is an online form you fill out from this page: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/requests-for-personal-data-uk-visas-and-immigration/request-personal-information-held-by-uk-visas-and-immigration

And you do have to follow up by emailing a scan of your passport and a signed letter giving them permission to access your records.

The irony of needing the letter to access your records to maintain data compliance and protection while also just accepting passport scans over email is quite something, though.

Anyway, I got my SAR back in a matter of days, it was very quick.

Good luck!

Thank you so much I did request specific as wasn’t sure as everything is so complicated with my application. Hopefully that’s did the trick. Thank you again
