In case anyone actually in the US needs a passport renewal turn-around time, I just had mine renewed by using their online portal. Started the process July 25, it was approved July 30, and I had it ten days later via USPS. This was a simple renewal of an unexpired passport.
It's also considerably heftier than my earlier ones - not sure what exactly they are embedding in them these days!
