2024 Taxes
« on: November 07, 2025, 02:19:23 PM »
I posted my 2024 taxes the end of September so they would arrive before the 15th October deadline. The problem is that the Royal Mail tracking is not showing any tracking information for the envelope that was sent. With the shutdown in the US I don’t know if they actually did receive it and it is just not being processed or they never received it. The question I have is should I resend it to make sure they do get it or wait? My concern is that it could cause problems in the future if it has been lost and they say I did not file my taxes.

Thanks in advance for any input.

I would assume that the IRS has received it. With the shutdown no paper returns are being processed. I can only imagine the backlog that is building up.

Important information for taxpayers
Taxpayers must continue to file and pay taxes as normal.
All tax deadlines remain in effect, including those covering individuals, corporations, partnerships and employers. The regular payroll tax deadlines remain in effect as well.
The IRS will continue processing payments received, whether by check or electronic means, during this period.
Taxpayers can file their tax return electronically or on paper –– although the processing of paper returns will be delayed until full government operations resume. Payments accompanying paper tax returns will still be accepted and deposited as the IRS receives them.
The IRS website, www.IRS.gov, will remain available, along with some of the automated tools on the site.
Tax professionals, tax software companies and Free File will remain available.

Thank you for the information. I will just keep checking it once the shutdown is over.
