So we moved over 10 years ago, so well past the timeframe for household items to be moved, but some family heirloom furniture has become available that we’d like to ship over but I’m worried that it may be cost prohibitive. Can someone give me a quick idea on the import duties due? I read 20% VAT plus import duties which are calculated on the value of the item plus the shipping costs. How do we value this? We’re not buying it, it belongs to family members, so I guess it’s a gift? We’re talking about 2 large cabinets. How much are the ‘import duties’??
